Sheila: Watching her son build confidence and independence

My son has been supported by IWORK4ME for 7 years and this support has been invaluable to the success of his self-employed business. After his employer ceased trading, he saw an opportunity to use his green keeping experience to extend this to gardening services.

Having the idea and being on the autism spectrum, along with other difficulties, he was unsure of how to go about this on his own. IWORK4ME as a source of business mentoring was recommended to him by Into Work.

Receiving the business mentoring support from IWORK4ME has enabled him to set up and grow a successful business.

He is now capable of maintaining his work diary, making arrangements with clients and dealing with the book keeping requirements under self-employment HMRC rules. He has built up many now long-standing client relationships and provides a trusted service to the local community.

It is obvious they have taken the time to understand my son, which is a key aspect of the service they provide. He is reassured he has a source of support to guide him with the business.

They keep up to date with working practices with advice to my son on business management, for example market pricing of services to ensure his prices are pitched correctly, how to manage workloads, an aspect where he can get overwhelmed when he is very busy, drafting template communications to use for contacting clients as his written communication is another area of difficulty.

I see my son more confident and able to cope with his anxieties better.
